11 Ways To Make Money This Weekend

1. Clean Others’ Properties

Ok, maybe this isn’t the sexiest choice of side hustles. However, to make money this weekend consider cleaning other people’s homes and yards.

If you actually enjoy cleaning, this is definitely something you will enjoy doing!

You will have to bring your own cleaning and yard work supplies, but it will only take a few hours to finish. You can charge between $30-$200 depending on your experience, the time the job takes, and the type of job you are doing.

If you clean other people’s yards, you can also do the following:

  • Remove fallen leaves
  • Remove debris
  • Remove fallen branches
  • Mow the lawn
  • Remove weeds in the garden

If you want to regularly clean for other people during the weekend, post a listing on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace, or put posters advertising your services on local help boards or street signs.

You can also go door-to-door, although you may see some “No Trespassing” or “No Soliciting” signs. Avoid going to those houses or apartments!

2. Babysit Or Nanny Children

If you want to make money this weekend and have friends and neighbors with kids… babysit for them.

Every parent wants a few hours away from their kids, and they can use that time to go grocery shopping or on a date with their significant other. Depending on the time you start babysitting at, as well as the age of the children you are caring for, you can play with them for hours or even watch your favorite shows as they sleep peacefully.

Babysitting is a great way to make money during the weekend, but unfortunately it likely won’t be a consistent source of income.

You can determine your rate per child based on your experience and age, but be willing to negotiate in case your friend or neighbor is on a tight budget.

3. Donate Plasma

This one sounds weird… but bear with me.

Consider donating plasma this weekend in your spare time.

Plasma not only helps save lives, it also helps you make money.

All you have to do is relax while the plasma is taken. You can read a book, watch TV, or just browse the internet while hooked up to the machine. (Don’t fall asleep, the employees may panic!)

However, many plasma donating centers are only open for a few hours on Saturday and are closed on Sundays, so you will only have a few hours to donate. You will be able to access the money soon after you donate plasma.

Do not donate plasma if you are sick or have a bad reaction to needles.

The employees will ask you a variety of questions every donating appointment you go to, and you will not be able to donate if you fail those questions. Some medications can also disqualify you from donating plasma, so if you are taking any medications, do some research beforehand to make sure they won’t turn you away.

4. Sell Your Stuff

If you have items in your home that you don’t often use, sell them to make extra money this weekend!

Keep in mind that it may take a few weeks to sell said items, but you will likely sell them eventually. You can sell them on various platforms, including Facebook Marketplace and eBay. Read our Guide To Garage Sale Flipping for more details!

The following items are often sold quickly if they are quality products and have little to no damage:

  • CDs
  • DVDs
  • Video games
  • Textbooks
  • Smartphones
  • Tablets
  • Gaming consoles
  • Clothing
  • Shoes
  • Jewelry (handmade or store-bought)
  • Furniture (refurbished, DIY, store-bought)

5. Tutor

If you want to make money during the weekend regularly (and did well in school!) start tutoring others. You can charge between $25-$60 per hour depending on your experience and tutoring abilities.

You can tutor students of varying ages and tutor online or in person depending on your preferences and the location of the student(s).

Tutors are always needed for core subjects: Maths, English, and Science. If you are skilled in those subjects, consider teaching others what you know. You get to share your intelligence and make a decent amount of cash at the same time.

Tutoring is definitely one of the best ways to make money this weekend.

6. Care For Pets

If you love pets (who doesn’t?) and need to make some money this weekend, see if any of your friends or neighbors need a petsitter.

When people go on a trip or are at work all day, they need someone to keep their furry companion company and make sure they don’t destroy the house.

Most people have a cat or dog (or both), so if you love either, petsitting will be a fun way for you to earn money this weekend. Over time you may build up a big enough customer list to create a steady weekend income source.

If none of your friends have pets that need to be taken care of, you can sign up to take care of other pets on the following websites:

Although the types of pet sitting jobs vary, most of the time all you need to do is play, feed, and take the pet outside/clean the litterbox. When you aren’t doing that, you can cuddle the cat or dog while you watch your favorite TV show. Sounds good to me.

Disclaimer: Don’t petsit if you are allergic to cats or dogs, even if you love them.

7. Become A Delivery Driver

If you want to make money this weekend and have a car, become a delivery driver.

Fast food restaurants are often busy during the weekend, so people don’t want to go inside the lobby or through the drive-thru (or even leave their house). Instead, they have their food delivered. Ka-Ching!

Those who deliver food have the potential to make a large amount of money, especially during a busy weekend. Many people tip their delivery drivers if given quality service, so you will make tip money as well as the money you get for the delivery.

You can drive and deliver food whenever you have time, so you can determine your schedule. When you are not driving, you can relax in your home or spend time with friends.

The following apps are popular food delivery apps. However, some may not be available in your area and vary in popularity.

Food-Delivery Apps:

  • Doordash
  • Postmates
  • Instacart
  • Shipt
  • Uber Eats

8. Become A Mystery Shopper

Another great way to make money this weekend is to become a mystery shopper.

Mystery shoppers get paid to go shopping… which you may already be planning to do this weekend. You can even bring your friends with you as you get paid to shop, which is always fun. However, not all shops utilize mystery shoppers, so you may not be paid to go shopping often.

Mystery shoppers are in high demand in the city, so if you live in an urban area, you should definitely look into becoming a mystery shopper.

As a mystery shopper, you will have to keep an eye out for flaws and rate the store after you leave, but that will only take 5-15 minutes. You can then keep shopping and enjoy your weekend to the fullest.

Market Force and IntelliShop are two popular platforms that will pay you to shop. You need to prove that you shopped at the location they are paying you to shop at, but you can prove that you shopped there by taking a picture of your receipt or one of their business cards.

9. Work At Events

Events are typically held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

If you want to make money this weekend and enjoy decorating and talking to people, you can work special events, including weddings.

Although you will likely be able to choose the events that you work at, you won’t be able to choose the time of the event and will likely have to stay afterward if the event goes late. You will also need to clean after the event, which you may not enjoy.

To work events, you can choose to do a variety of jobs, including:

  • Decorate
  • Doorman
  • Park/Valet
  • Wait on guests

When you work various events, you can get paid between $15-$20 per hour.

One-time events typically need additional staff to help with the event.

Taskrabbit is a popular website where you can find events to work at during the weekend. However, the pay rate and jobs that you do may vary.

10. Take Photographs

If you enjoy photography but are not a photographer, you can still use your skills to make money this weekend (and in your free time).

However, you will have to acquire a high-quality camera and learn how to edit photos. This could take more than one weekend depending on the number of photos you take.

Have your friends hire you to take photos for events. That way, you can attend events with people you like and the hosts will have pictures to help them remember said event. After you get some experience and build a portfolio, you can start taking photos for other people and events.

You can determine your pay rate based on your experience and how long you will be at the event. Quality photographers earn $200-$1,000 or more per event, so you can make a large amount of money in one weekend if you produce quality photos.

Often, people want a photographer to attend the following events:

  • Birthdays
  • Family pictures
  • Graduation
  • Weddings

However, if you want to take photos to make extra money on weekends, showcase your photos on various platforms so people hire you for their events. Photographers often showcase their photos on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

I highly recommend you start a blog to showcase your talents!

11. Sell Homemade Foods

A great (and delicious) way to make money this weekend.

If you are good at baking and want to make some extra money, sell baked goods!

However, before you start selling baked goods, make sure you have all of the ingredients. Also, make sure you are okay with eating the leftovers if you don’t take orders beforehand.

If you are planning on selling baked goods to make money repeatedly, you can take orders for the future or the next weekend. That way, you know ahead of time how many batches you need to make and can plan to purchase the necessary ingredients.

To make money, consider the following:

  • Cake
  • Brownies
  • Bread
  • Cookies
  • Rice Krispie Treats
  • Muffins
  • Eclairs
  • Banana Bread
  • Pies
  • Baclava

However, baking takes time, and most of these foods need to cool before they can be packaged. If you package food while it is still hot, the plastic container that you will likely use can melt, and no one wants melted plastic in their cookies (hmm, crispy).

Although baking takes time, you can determine what to charge based on the cost of the ingredients, the quality of the baked items, how often the baked item is sold, whether or not they are decorated, and how long you spend making them.

You can also tell customers who placed an order to pick up the baked goods within a certain amount of time. This means you can control your own schedule, which is always nice and means you can enjoy the rest of your weekend.

(12. Our SECRET Best Way To Make Money This Weekend)

Ok, I’ll come clean.

Not only can I clearly not count, I also no longer do any of the methods listed above.

Don’t get me wrong, I have utilized nearly all of them in the past. They are still great for building up a healthy nest egg. This can then be invested or used to finance your next side-hustle.

However, I strongly believe your time could be better spent building passive income streams or developing an essential high income skill. These methods may be slower to start off, but they can pay dividends for many weekends to come.

Forgoing the short term profit now enables significantly higher future potential – with much less future time demand. Some people even leverage their passive income or new skills into a full time income.

Successfully escaping the 9-5 if a darn sight better than a few extra dollars this weekend! Give it some thought.
